Pioneers in carbon transition.

Developing CO₂ conversion technology for the production of sustainable chemicals

Carbon is everywhere

Carbon is the basic atom in plants and animals. It is in our clothing, our bicycles and cars, phones and buildings. We cannot live without it. Carbon is life.

Unfortunately, we get our carbon from fossil fuels. The consumption of these resources in humanity’s quest for greater prosperity could now lead to our downfall. The rising CO₂ concentration in the atmosphere causes earth to warm up dangerously. Global warming threatens the lives of billions. And it is only going faster.

The balance is off and it is time for action. Let's fix it now, all together.

“It is our philosophy that companies should focus on restoring the balance we once had with nature.”

Air is all we need

Our novel electrochemical CO₂ reduction technology will guide companies in their quest towards carbon neutrality. Similarly to the leaves of a tree, we use CO₂ and water to create the building blocks for plastics, fuels and so much more. The required energy is provided by renewable electricity and no fossil feedstocks are consumed during the process.

Building on more than a decade of research experience in electrochemistry, we have developed state-of-the-art catalysts and reactors to perform this reaction under the most optimal conditions. Now we are ready to move our technology out of the lab and show you the future of chemistry.

Circular

Cradle-to-cradle lies at the heart of our process and enables the indepence of fossil feedstocks

Fast scaling

Through modular reactor design our technology will be rapidly implemented on an industrial scale

High-Value Product

Our technology revives low energetic CO₂ into high-value products like formic acid and ethylene

From lab to industry

Last year, almost 35 billion metric tons of CO₂ was emitted worldwide. To balance these gigantic emissions, we aim to implement our technology on an industrial scale. Working together, hand in hand, with renowned companies in the chemical industry will allow us to scale rapidly and efficiently. Thereby enabling these companies to reach their goals and meet the EU’s ‘fit for 55’  regulations.

Through early-stage partnerships we can tailor our technology towards your company’s specific process conditions

  • CO₂ to cleaning products

Oxylum provides the ingredients, like formic acid, for your sustainable cleaning products.

  • CO₂ to polymers

Sustainable feedstocks for the polymers that shape your world.

  • CO₂ to fuels

Sustainable fuels based on circular carbon feeds.

Meet Oxylum

Oxylum is a spin-off company from University of Antwerp and finds its origin in years of research within the research group ELCAT, led by Prof Tom Breugelmans. Oxylum wants to cooperate in a personal way with partners and guide them to CO₂ neutral industrial activities.
